Job description
Unpack, rack, wire, and bring new physical hardware, servers, and network equipment online.
- Diagnose hardware issues as they happen by following clear procedures to figure out whats broken and get the equipment back up and running.
- Manage sensitive storage hardware; track, securely erase, old hardware in accordance with security standards to ensure data is not at risk.
- Dismantle outdated equipment that has reached the end of its life, salvaging usable components and recycling the rest.
- Perform routine checks and physical maintenance on servers, networking equipment, and infrastructure to prevent problems before they start.
- Help lead projects during major facility upgrades and new equipment rollouts.

As part of Technical Infrastructure, we develop and maintain our data centers and build the next generation of Google platforms, making our product portfolio possible. This role is based in the Netherlands and offers a salary range of €64000 - €66000 (EUR) plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits. We work in an industrial environment and offer a hands-on role supporting servers, networking equipment, and infrastructure.
Requirements
Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols.
- Experience with performing component-level repairs on IT equipment.
- Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and ability to exert yourself physically over extended periods of time, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling and lifting.
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, holidays and on shift-based schedule.
- Experience working with and troubleshooting hardware or network related issues using Linux-based tools.
- Experience troubleshooting OS, network equipment, and software.
- Experience with systems administration.
- Experience with light coding or scripting.
- Ability to collaborate and partner with people and teams to overcome issues.
- Ability to manage competing and changing priorities.
