Job description
We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Roaming IT Technician to support a cluster of schools in the Wokingham area. This hands-on technical role involves providing responsive IT support across multiple school sites, ensuring systems are operating efficiently and issues are resolved promptly.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable travelling between sites, troubleshooting a variety of IT issues, and supporting both teaching and support staff in their use of technology., * Provide on-site and remote technical support to staff and students across a group of schools in the region.
- Maintain and support IT infrastructure including desktops, laptops, printers, tablets, projectors, and interactive displays.
- Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on devices and network components.
- Support the installation and configuration of hardware and software, ensuring consistent performance across sites.
- Assist with user account administration, permissions, and troubleshooting issues related to login, access, and connectivity.
- Respond to IT incidents and service requests in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with the AIT HQ team to help implement wider IT initiatives and contribute to service improvements.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of work completed, assets managed, and systems updated.
- Ensure data security and confidentiality is maintained at all times in line with school policies and relevant regulations.
- Stay informed of IT trends and emerging tools relevant to the education sector.
Requirements
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a technical IT support role, ideally in an education or multi-site environment.
- Strong working knowledge of IT hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS), and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with platforms such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and cloud-based systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with a methodical and patient approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support users with varying technical skill levels.
- Comfortable working independently and managing time effectively across multiple school locations.
- A full UK driving licence and access to transport is essential.
- Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, ITIL) are desirable.
