The EHR & Quality Improvement (QI) Analyst supports the organization's mission by optimizing the Electronic Health Record (EHR), improving clinical documentation, monitoring data quality, and assisting with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives. This position serves as a liaison between clinical staff, leadership, information technology, billing, and compliance to ensure accurate documentation, efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, and reliable reporting.
The analyst assists with implementation of clinical initiatives, monitors documentation quality, identifies opportunities for process improvement, develops reports and dashboards, and provides education to staff regarding EHR workflows and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Analyze workflows and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and compliance.
- Build, test, and maintain EHR templates, forms, assessments, alerts, and workflows.
- Collaborate with vendors regarding enhancements, upgrades, and issue resolution.
- Troubleshoot EHR issues and coordinate resolution with IT and vendor support.
- Assist with system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new features.
- Maintain documentation of EHR workflows and user guides.
Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QAQI)
- Track quality indicators and outcome measures.
- Develop dashboards and reports for leadership.
Clinical Documentation Improvement
- Assist departments in improving documentation practices.
- Develop documentation tip sheets and workflow guides.
- Participate in policy development and standardization efforts.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain reports using EHR reporting tools.
- Analyze clinical, operational, and quality data.
- Monitor agency performance metrics.
Training & Education
- Provide training to staff on EHR workflows and documentation requirements.
- Develop educational materials and job aids.
- Assist with onboarding of new staff.
- Provide one-on-one coaching related to documentation improvement.
Regulatory Compliance
Support compliance with:
- Missouri Department of Mental Health
- Missouri Medicaid
- CCBHC Certification Requirements
- CARF Accreditation Standards
- HIPAA
- CMS regulations
- Organizational policies and procedures
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of behavioral health documentation.
- Knowledge of CCBHC standards.
- Knowledge of CARF standards.
- Understanding of documentation requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify workflow inefficiencies.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with report writing and dashboards.
- Ability to interpret quality data and present findings., General: Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. Travel may involve long hours in a vehicle. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
