Under the direction of a Tax Administrator I, the Supervising Program Technician (SPT) III plans, organizes and directs the activities of the Taxpayer Assistance Group (TAG) by leading and directing the work of staff charged with responding to the telephone, correspondence and Internet e-mail contacts from the public. The SPT III is responsible for creating and nurturing an environment which promotes team building and open communication at all levels through the group and encourages innovative ideas for continuous improvement of systems and processes in order to improve services to the Group's internal and external customers. This position is headquartered in Rancho Cordova and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. The investigation will consist of completion of a personal history statement and fingerprinting checks with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice, and/or local law enforcement agencies. Anyone failing to pass the background investigation will be provided information on how to appeal the process. A criminal conviction may not result in an automatic determination of "Not Qualified." Requirements

  • Experience in a supervision or lead position
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc.)
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with tact and diplomacy
  • Possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative, be flexible, work independently, and have willingness to learn new duties
  • Excellent attendance; proven dependability, punctuality, and reliability
  • Ability to exercise good judgment; know when it's appropriate to consult with and advise management
  • Ability to provide close attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadline
