Job description
As a Software Engineer II , you will design, develop, and verify embedded software for implantable medical devices that advance Pelvic Health Therapies. Working in a highly regulated medical device environment, you will contribute to the full software development lifecycle - from requirements and architecture through implementation, testing, verification, and product release. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Systems, Electrical Engineering, Security, and Quality, to deliver safe, reliable, and innovative therapy solutions while ensuring compliance with medical device regulations and quality standards., * Own firmware features for implantable neurostimulator systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and proprietary communication protocols.
- Develop embedded software utilizing various BLE stacks.
- Contribute to firmware requirements, architecture, traceability, scope management, software hazard analysis, and design documentation.
- Design, implement, debug, and optimize embedded firmware while executing unit and integration testing.
- Develop test designs, test scripts, and formal technical reports to support verification activities.
- Perform regression testing, failure analysis, and debugging of embedded software and automated test scripts.
- Analyze test data, document findings, and recommend design or process improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support overall system design and product development.
- Participate in design reviews, development milestones, and product release activities.
- Ensure compliance with medical device regulations, software development processes, and quality system requirements while driving continuous improvement., Onsite : At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. This role will require <10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Technical field with minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Advanced degree Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Technical field with a minimum of 0 years of relevant experience
Nice To Have:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience developing embedded software using C and C++.
- Strong knowledge of embedded systems design, low-level firmware development, device drivers, peripherals, and communication protocols.
- Experience developing software for medical devices or other regulated products, with a solid understanding of applicable software development processes and quality standards.
- Experience partnering with Systems Engineering, Verification & Validation, Human Factors, Quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Experience authoring software requirements and translating them into comprehensive verification strategies, test designs, and test cases.
- Experience participating in the complete software development lifecycle, from planning and design through implementation, verification, and product release.
- Familiarity with regulated software development environments and industry standards for medical device software.
- Knowledge of Medtronic Neuro devices, programs, and associated software applications is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across cross-functional teams.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$100,000.00 - $150,000.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
