Job description
We are seeking a Test Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance automated test software supporting advanced hardware validation and manufacturing test environments. This role focuses on integrating software with laboratory test equipment, developing new test solutions, maintaining legacy code, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate has experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, and automated test system development.
Scope: Test Software Development
- Develop, debug, and maintain automated test software using LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, C#, and related technologies.
- Design and enhance software used to control and integrate laboratory test equipment with devices under test (DUTs).
- Interface software with instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, lasers, optical transceivers, data acquisition hardware, and custom electronic assemblies.
- Integrate LabVIEW with external libraries, Python scripts, MATLAB code, and other software components as required.
Test System Support & Maintenance
- Maintain and enhance existing automated test systems while supporting the development of new test platforms.
- Assume ownership of legacy codebases, understand existing software architecture, and implement improvements with limited documentation.
- Troubleshoot software, hardware interfaces, and test execution issues to ensure reliable system performance.
- Optimize test methods, software performance, and overall test efficiency.
Data Acquisition & Analysis
- Develop software for automated data acquisition, processing, and analysis.
- Support collection, interpretation, and reporting of test data to improve product validation and manufacturing performance.
- Assist in developing and refining test algorithms and measurement methodologies.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Produce technical documentation for software architecture, code changes, and test systems.
- Provide technical support to engineering and manufacturing teams regarding software functionality and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy and support automated test solutions in production environments.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance software quality, maintainability, and manufacturing efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience developing software using LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, and C#.
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing automated test software.
- Experience developing automated test systems for new products and supporting manufacturing test environments.
- Familiarity with integrating software and laboratory instrumentation for automated testing.
- Experience with data acquisition, analysis, and hardware interfacing.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.
Pluses:
- Experience developing software for optical or electronic test systems.
- Experience integrating software with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, lasers, optical transceivers, or data acquisition hardware.
- Experience supporting production test systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Design for Excellence (DFX) principles.
- Experience working with global engineering or manufacturing teams.
- Experience with USB communication, custom hardware interfaces, or DLL integration.
