Job description

We are seeking a Senior Principal Hardware Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and verification of complex embedded digital hardware systems for secure, mission-critical applications. This role will support advanced hardware programs from concept through production, with a focus on high-speed digital design, secure processing, ruggedized systems, and reliable performance in demanding environments., * Lead complex digital hardware programs from initial concept through design, verification, integration, and production release

  • Architect electrical circuit solutions for secure processing, embedded systems, and extreme operating environments
  • Develop high-speed digital hardware designs using modern interconnect technologies and advanced embedded computing architectures
  • Create and review electrical schematics, interface designs, circuit architectures, and hardware design documentation
  • Support PCB layout activities by providing design guidance related to high-speed routing, signal integrity, power distribution, and manufacturability
  • Execute development and verification of complex circuits, modules, assemblies, and complete hardware systems
  • Collaborate with FPGA, firmware, software, mechanical, systems, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product development
  • Lead technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis during design, integration, qualification, and production phases
  • Support design reviews, customer reviews, hardware bring-up, validation testing, and transition to manufacturing
  • Ensure hardware designs meet performance, reliability, security, and mission-critical application requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of electrical hardware design experience
  • Strong experience designing complex digital hardware systems
  • Experience with high-speed and high-performance interfaces
  • Ability to lead technical design efforts across the full product development lifecycle
  • Experience supporting hardware design from concept, architecture, schematic design, layout, verification, integration, and production release
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams including systems, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering
  • U.S. citizenship or ability to obtain required authorization eligibility

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with FPGA-based hardware design and development
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, PCIe, DDR memory, and other high-speed digital interfaces
  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout support, signal integrity, power integrity, and design verification
  • Proficiency with tools such as Cadence, Allegro, Mentor Valydate, or similar electrical design and validation tools
  • Knowledge of VPX, VITA standards, and rugged embedded computing architectures
  • Experience with MIL-STD systems, defense electronics, secure processing, or mission-critical hardware platforms
  • Understanding of hardware development for extreme environments, including thermal, vibration, shock, and reliability considerations
  • Experience supporting design reviews, technical documentation, validation testing, and production transition
