Job description

The IT Applications Analyst, reporting to the Director of Information Technology (IT), will support the daily operation and support of the organization's point of sale solution along with other business critical applications and systems. This includes the configuration, installation, maintenance, testing, and user support of hardware and software solutions deployed throughout the zoo and off-site facilities., The IT Applications Analyst serves as the primary point of contact for all issues related to the Zoo's point of sale (POS) solution, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues and uninterrupted business operations. This role acts as the liaison between the Zoo and software vendors, coordinating troubleshooting efforts and facilitating effective problem resolution. The IT Applications Analyst provides helpdesk support to Zoo staff by diagnosing hardware and software issues, delivering end-user training, and promoting effective use of technology. They are responsible for creating and maintaining system documentation, including configuration changes, technical procedures, and user account management. The position also prepares, configures, and deploys new devices as needed and collaborates with IT team members, internal departments, and external partners to support and maintain the Zoo's technology infrastructure. In addition, the IT Applications Analyst assists with special projects assigned by the Director of Information Technology or IT Manager and performs other related duties as needed to support the organization's evolving technology needs.

Requirements

  • Affinity for the mission and values of John Ball Zoo
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working in an IT discipline or completing education in an IT major for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Experience installing and configuring new hardware and software, troubleshooting, and providing end user support
  • Previous exposure to VOIP phone system maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience in a workplace with an IT ticket system and IT asset database. Previous experience with credit card processing and point of sale equipment preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Cisco or Ubiquiti Networking, Microsoft SQL Server, VMWare, Meraki, Google Workspace: or similar software packages
  • Understanding of professional project management principles and a willingness to lead and manage small to mid-sized technical projects
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and show flexibility with daily responsibilities with minimal guidance
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to interact and collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to work early morning, evening and/or weekend hours, as required
