Job description
Peraton is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the Department of State's Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) program. The SA provides IT Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support for the hardware, software, and platforms that power consular applications and systems across U.S. Passport Offices and Agencies. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems serving U.S. citizens worldwide.
Core Work Schedule: First shift, approximately 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday-Friday. Exact hours to be established by site lead. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including participation in a rotational weekend schedule to support periodic maintenance and troubleshooting., Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop, server, and peripheral COTS/GOTS systems to ensure operational reliability and performance.
- Manage deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of hardware, software, and databases-including Consular Affairs applications, SCCM, Active Directory, vSphere, and SQL environments.
- Perform data and system backups, restores, and ongoing management of IT infrastructure to ensure data integrity and system availability.
- Coordinate and implement hardware/software upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning activities with minimal service disruption.
- Administer Active Directory accounts, privileges, and badge logon configurations in accordance with security policies.
- Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with Microsoft Defender and Department of State cybersecurity standards.
- Document configurations, system changes, and performance trends, maintaining accurate technical and topology documentation.
- Log, track, and resolve incidents using ServiceNow, collaborating with Government System Administrators and ISSOs to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient IT operations.
- Manage inventory of peripherals and support devices, including tracking asset transfers, maintaining accurate documentation, and ordering/replenishing supplies to ensure operational readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience or a Masters degree and 0 years of experience or an Associates degree and 4 years of experience or a High School Diploma/Equivalent and 6 years of experience.
- U.S. citizenship and active Secret Government Security Clearance.
- Experience as a systems administrator in a Windows-based environment.
- Experience supporting and administering Windows-based enterprise environments, including desktop and server systems.
- Experience performing systems administration functions, including configuration, troubleshooting, software installation, patching, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
- Experience administering Active Directory, including user accounts, security groups, permissions, and access management.
- Experience supporting enterprise hardware, peripherals, and end-user computing environments.
- Experience utilizing IT service management/ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of NTFS and share permissions; distribution/security group management.
- Knowledge of DHCP, Print Server and Exchange/O365 management.
- Knowledge and understanding of Cisco switching and routing technologies.
- Experience with ServiceNow or Remedy Ticket Management System.
- Experience with IBML Scanner Appliances.
- Active Directory - Users and Computers
- Experience with Intermec PM43 Label Printers.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+ Certifications.
