Job description

In this role, your purpose is to establish a seamless end-to-end product experience by collaborating with business partners and product teams, guiding UX practitioners, and translating consumer insights into actionable strategies, all while ensuring adherence to design standards and promoting continuous improvement in digital experiences. An Experience Lead on our team:

  • Leads complex assignments across multiple platforms, products, and/or channels by applying extensive knowledge of the experience design and architecture disciplines to drive the delivery of solutions within a product suite
  • Creates and presents scalable, intuitive, elegant designs, including complex process and user flows, wireframes, and pixel-perfect high-fidelity mockups that meet business and technical requirements
  • Supports, contributes to, and implements the standards and best practices established by the XD Center of Excellence (CoE)
  • Works in partnership with the Sr. Experience Lead to understand and drive the long-term improvement needs of the experience(s), conduct creative exploratory work including XD aspirational visualizations and other strategic XD concepting efforts
  • Effectively plans and facilitates design sessions to engage and build alignment across different partners and teams
  • Identifies potential roadblocks for the design team, resolves and/or understands when escalation is needed
  • Champions the use of appropriate design systems, architectural and brand standards. Looks for opportunities to build consistency across products, platforms, and/or channels, and contributes to the maturity of internal and external facing design systems
  • Creates content strategies and tactics to influence experience designs, and applies insights from research findings to determine the best method for delivering content
  • Identifies opportunities to improve language consistency across digital experiences and channels
  • Continuously enhances and updates skills to maintain relevance in the field by staying informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements, including developments in AI
  • Regularly meets with and seeks guidance from group experience leads and senior experience leads
  • Provides guidance to the Product Experience Designer to ensure the scope, timing, and general expectations of the work is understood and there is an approach outlined to accomplish
  • Provides creative direction, constructive feedback, mentoring, and leadership guidance to product and content designers
  • Understands and focuses on the intended measurable outcome of the experience, helps to identify meaningful metrics, and communicates the outcomes to leadership
  • Ensures experiences have a concise product/service copy that simplifies sophisticated industry terms and products into consumable, relevant conversations
  • Utilizes visual, written, and verbal storytelling to share discoveries, gather and integrate feedback, influence, and create support for an idea or initiative
  • Provides best in class designs and stays current with visual design best practices to inform the evolution of omni-channel creative experiences
  • Applies Agile and Product Management methodologies

This area is comprised of multiple teams that are passionate about enhancing experiences for State Farm customers. To effectively deliver, we partner with a broad range of business partners, including developers, product owners, Marketing, business departments, and executive leadership, to name a few. We help our partners achieve their goals by proactively bringing design solutions to the table. As an Experience Lead on our team, you will be primarily focused on enhancing the customer experience for our State Farm mobile app. Key job responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing end-to-end product experience: Collaborating with business partners and product teams to create a seamless product journey
  • Guiding UX practitioners: Offering creative, content, and architectural guidance to ensure compliance with digital experience standards
  • Translating insights into strategies: Converting consumer and user insights into actionable creative strategies and frameworks for aligned products
  • Aligning team resources: Working with XD leadership to effectively allocate team resources for digital initiatives
  • Providing thought leadership: Offering direction on the design and architecture of digital products to enhance overall user experience
  • Ensuring design adherence: Making sure that visual and experience architecture design meets project requirements, objectives, and timelines
  • Promoting continuous improvement: Advocating for the ongoing enhancement of digital experience standards and governance
  • Driving iterative progress: Ensuring continuous movement toward an aspirational product experience through visualizations, prototypes, and artifacts

Requirements

Competitive candidates must have the following skills/experience:

  • 7-10 years of prior experience and demonstrated success in graphic design, app design, web design, and user-centered design
  • Experience working within a brand and established design system
  • Must be proficient in Figma and AI-informed Design
  • Experience creating illustrations and motion design (beneficial)
  • Experience with native mobile design
  • Proactive, self-starter approach to work
  • Highly effective written and verbal communicator
  • Skilled and experienced in collaborative work approach
  • Knowledge of and experience using data and analytics to solve experience problems
  • User research experience

  • Potential starting salary range: $124,000 - $163,000

  • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience

  • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
