Mainframe Appl. Architect

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with alternating weeks onsite and remote. Candidates must be available to report onsite consistently as required. Responsibilities Maintain and support the Tax and Financial Accounting and Reporting System (FARS). Support interfaces related to NCSUITS and SCUBI. Perform legacy data cleansing and conversion to Oracle as part of the FARS Modernization project. Design, implement, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications and architecture. Transfer and convert data from legacy mainframe applications to Oracle/SQL-based systems. Perform mainframe application logic analysis and system decommissioning activities. Analyze technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost of proposed solutions. Collaborate with technical and business teams to ensure successful system integration. Troubleshoot and resolve complex mainframe technical issues. Develop preventive solutions to minimize future production issues. Engage business experts to understand and validate the purpose and usage of legacy data during conversion activities.

10+ years of experience with COBOL. 10+ years of experience with CICS. 10+ years of experience with VSAM and relational databases. 10+ years of experience with JCL. 10+ years of experience transferring data from mainframe applications to Oracle/SQL-based systems. 10+ years of experience converting data from one application to another. Strong knowledge of VSAM and hierarchical database structures. Experience analyzing solution feasibility, compatibility, and implementation costs. Experience delivering successful technology projects within assigned responsibilities. 5+ years of experience performing mainframe logic analysis and application decommissioning. Strong organizational skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to understand the impact of interface and system design decisions on technology, information flow, and business processes. Preferred Skills 5+ years of experience engaging business and technical experts during legacy data cleansing and Oracle conversion projects. Ability to engage business experts regarding the purpose and use of data within the Benefit Payment Application. Knowledge of the FARS (Financial Accounting and Reporting System) application.
