Job description
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting enterprise and service-provider network solutions across Alliant's MPLS, fiber, and microwave networks. The role acts as an escalation point for complex issues, supports network projects, and maintains operational excellence through monitoring, documentation, and on-call support. This position also contributes to the DWDM Lifecycle Project, replacing core network infrastructure and developing programming templates and technical documentation to support the transition. Compensation for this position will start at $68 an hour based on experience and qualifications.
Requirements
5+ years of network operations, NOC, or network engineering experience

Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, MPLS, OSPF, BGP)

Experience with fiber optics, microwave, WAN, and leased-circuit technologies

Experience with network monitoring tools (NMS/EMS, SolarWinds, Nagios, etc.), including knowledge of NMS protocols and overall network health monitoring

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to dig into problems, perform root-cause analysis, and configure/provision network devices
Nice to Have Skills & Experience

CCNA or equivalent certification

Zabbix experience

Experience operating in a NOC environment

Experience with firmware upgrades

Experience participating in CAB/change management processes
