The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Software Engineer to support our P-8 Mission Systems Software team located in Kent, Washington. P-8 is part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security Services (BDS) business unit.
In this position, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and supporting Mission Systems software.
You'll be an integral part of supporting the P-8 Poseidon program, which is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international partners. Upcoming contract awards have enabled team expansion and growth. This franchise program is anticipated to continue to be a stable program for the foreseeable future.
We are seeking a leader that is passionate about aerospace and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of software for existing and emerging government and international programs., * Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products.
- Designs, develops, tests, and maintains mission software throughout the lifecycle that meets customer requirements.
- Participates in lab integration, debug, and test.
- Investigates and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
- Follows and improves software processes.
- Executes and documents software research and development projects.
Requirements
This exciting position requires demonstrated experience as a Software Developer, knowledge of the full software development life cycle (requirements, design, code, test), and the clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new solutions and support existing capabilities for multiple programs and customers. Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are required., * Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance (US Citizenship required)
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 3 or more years of engineering work experience in:
- Java (preferred), C++ or C programming language experience
- Exposure to Object Oriented Design
- Troubleshooting S/W issues in a complex environment
- Linux and Windows development environments
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience
- Agile software development processes
- Jira, git, Bit Bucket
- Scripting languages: XML, Perl, Python
- Experience in Weapons Integration on military platforms
- Software Architecture experience
- Software Requirements experience
- Interface design and control document experience
- Supporting contractual deliverables
- Development of User Interface design
- Experience with validation and verification processes, This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee., Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Required, This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
