Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Payroll Audit & Timecard Correction Specialist for a client facing urgent production payroll challenges involving complex union-based calculations. This candidate will step into a highly technical environment where they will design and implement automated solutions to audit payroll data, correct timecard discrepancies, and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements. The ideal candidate is not a traditional payroll administrator, but rather a technical problem solver with strong scripting capabilities who can quickly interpret complex business logic, resolve production issues, and build scalable automation processes. This is a high-visibility, business-critical engagement with immediate impact and potential for extension based on success.

Requirements

  • 4-5+ years of experience with time & attendance and payroll systems
  • Strong experience interpreting and applying collective bargaining agreements (CBA)
  • Deep understanding of complex union pay rules (EMS/public safety highly relevant)
  • Proven ability to analyze payroll data, validate calculations, and audit discrepancies
  • Strong scripting/automation experience (Python or similar)
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex business-rule logic
  • Experience developing payroll corrections and reconciliation routines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and ramp quickly in critical production environments - Python expertise or 10+ years of scripting experience across tools
  • Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) or similar timekeeping platforms
  • Background in EMS, public safety, or union-heavy environments
  • Experience building automation workflows and post-processing payroll adjustments
  • Prior experience supporting production payroll issues and system fixes
  • Exposure to NEOGOV implementations or HR/payroll platform transitions
