Job description

As a mobile platform engineer, you'll help shape the future of Chime's React Native app - building frameworks, tooling, and systems that make development faster, safer, and more scalable for hundreds of engineers. Your work will directly support the quality and performance of the app used by millions of members., * Build and maintain internal React Native frameworks, developer tooling, and shared infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to improve app quality, performance, and observability.
  • Help automate mobile CI/CD and release orchestration, reducing manual effort and increasing reliability.
  • Drive mobile platform upgrades and manage compatibility across native modules and third-party libraries.
  • Design and improve tooling that saves engineers time and helps them resolve issues independently.
  • Partner with QA to lead Chime's mobile release process across iOS and Android.
  • Write documentation and guidance that scales your knowledge and empowers other engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in cross-platform, mobile development- ideally with React Native.
  • Strong fluency in TypeScript and familiarity with React, React Native, and related libraries.
  • Experience with iOS or Android build, configuration, and distribution systems.
  • A track record of profiling and improving app performance.
  • Familiarity with observability and analytics tools like Bugsnag, Datadog, Sentry, or Amplitude.
  • Knowledge of GraphQL, Apollo, and schema generation.Experience with mobile CI/CD tools such as Bitrise, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions.A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and a drive to document and share what you build.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with feature flag systems, runtime controls, or OTA delivery frameworks (e.g., Expo Updates, CodePush).
  • Experience building and deploying AI-supported engineering workflows, leveraging tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Figma Connect.
  • Worked on mobile apps used by millions of users.
  • Familiarity with state management tools like Redux, React Context, AsyncStorage, or MMKV.
  • Helped define and scale mobile quality practices and testing frameworks.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $164,000.00 and up to $227,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience., *Chime is a financial technology company, not a bank.
