Job description

  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through research, product design analysis, fabrication and assembly methods, tooling, materials, equipment, and operator feedback.
  • Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing procedures that ensure high standards of product quality, reliability, cost efficiency, safety, and operational consistency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles, Kanban, 5S, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and other best practices to reduce waste and improve productivity.
  • Estimate production costs and assess the impact of engineering or design changes for management review.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Inventory Control, and Sales teams to coordinate manufacturing activities and resolve production challenges.
  • Develop and maintain work center standards, manage production variances, and optimize Bills of Operations (BOOs) to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Perform supplier evaluations, source inspections (including metal fabrication and printed circuit board assemblies), and support vendor qualification activities.
  • Coordinate contract manufacturing operations, including process controls, material kits, supply chain support, training, and production readiness.
  • Perform capacity planning by work center and test operations to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews during new product development.
  • Develop assembly instructions, manufacturing documentation, and labor time standards as required.
  • Investigate and implement corrective actions to prevent nonconforming products and ensure proper documentation of manufacturing activities.
  • Analyze production data and prepare reports on process performance, quality trends, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, quality systems, customer requirements, and government regulations.

Requirements

  • Must have extensive experience with PCB, SMT, and soldering., * Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred) or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, or a related technical role.
  • Experience in high-tech or electronics manufacturing environments is required; RF or microwave product experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems and IPC Class 3 manufacturing and soldering standards.
  • Experience with PCB fabrication and assembly, machining, sheet metal fabrication, and electronic product manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, manufacturing specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing software systems.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, work order management, shop floor control, statistical process control (SPC), and capacity planning.
  • Preferred experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, prototype development, light fixture design, and ERP platforms such as Vantage or similar systems.
