Job description
As a Senior AI Infrastructure Automation & Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the AI-focused future of how infrastructure automation is designed, built, and operated reliably. You will work with software engineering, security, and IT operations teams to set technical direction, evolve our infrastructure automation strategy, and reduce toil while improving reliability.
You will:
- Help define new working methods for how AI impacts every aspect of what we do - how we structure the organization, drive team productivity, track our work, and more
- Leveraging state-of-the-art AI toolsets, design, implement, and maintain robust automation solutions using Python, Ansible, and related tooling
- Lead efforts to standardize and scale Infrastructure as Code (IaC) across environments; own the automation lifecycle for provisioning, configuration, patching, and decommissioning of infrastructure
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and operations workflows; diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and automation issues across development and production systems
- Establish best practices for reliability, observability, backup, and disaster recovery; leverage AI coding assistants, agents, and modern IDEs to improve developer productivity, quality, and velocity; review code and automation changes; mentor junior engineers; contribute to a culture of continuous improvement; and participate in on-call rotations and incident response as a senior escalation point
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, infrastructure automation, or IT operations, with experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., AI coding assistants, autonomous or semi-autonomous agents, and modern IDE integrations) as part of daily engineering work
- Strong proficiency in Python for automation, tooling, and system integration, along with deep hands-on experience with Ansible or similar configuration management frameworks
- Strong knowledge of Linux and/or Windows systems administration and solid understanding of networking concepts (routing, DNS, TLS, firewalls, load balancing)
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code practices, version-controlled workflows, Git, and collaborative development practices
- Ability to design maintainable systems, clearly document decisions and tradeoffs, with strong troubleshooting skills and comfort operating in production environments
Desirable Requirements
- Experience operating infrastructure in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP); familiarity with containers and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes); experience with CI/CD systems and pipeline automation (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.); knowledge of secrets management, identity, and access control systems
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.); exposure to ITSM concepts (incident, problem, and change management); experience designing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions; and prior experience influencing technical standards or architecture at the team or org level
Benefits & conditions
