Job description

As a Senior Systems Test Engineer, you will lead the integration, verification, and test of thermal imaging systems-working across hardware, software, firmware, optical, and manufacturing teams to deliver thermal solutions for consumer, industrial, and OEM markets. You will serve as a key quality gate for new products entering manufacturing, own the test infrastructure that validates them, and drive the test strategy from development through production. The Sr. Systems Test Engineer will report directly into the SVP of Engineering., * Develop and execute test plans to validate system performance against established budgets and acceptance criteria (NETD, MTF, latency, throughput); flag risks to engineering leads.

  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for system-level failures in development and post-deployment.
  • Design and maintain automated test frameworks and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems.
  • Own test coverage strategy across HW/FW/SW integration layers-regression, stress, and environmental.
  • Author test specifications, reports, and traceability matrices to system requirements and qualification standards.
  • Support technical design reviews with test perspective, requirements traceability, interface definition, and risk input throughout the development cycle.
  • Partner with manufacturing and quality to support prototype-to-production transitions, including production test fixture design, go/no-go criteria, and yield monitoring at the manufacturing line.
  • Coordinate environmental and qualification testing with external labs; review test plans, witness key tests, and disposition results.
  • Oversee test bench calibration program, including equipment schedules and calibration records.
  • Mentor junior engineers in systems and test engineering best practices., Work is performed in an office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise. The role requires regular standing, walking, and use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; occasional crouching or kneeling; close vision and extended computer use. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Some business travel is required.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of EO/IR imaging system design and performance metrics (NETD, MTF, FPN); experience operating or building radiometric test benches and applying thermal calibration techniques.
  • Proven experience developing and executing system-level test plans, ATPs, and qualification protocols for electro-optical or sensor-based products, including environmental/reliability campaigns (MIL-STD-810, IEC 60068, UL 1316, NFPA 1801).
  • Proficiency in test automation scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent); hands-on experience with ATE, frame grabbers, IR analysis software, and custom test fixture design.
  • Ability to work across HW, FW, and SW boundaries-comfortable with serial debug, JTAG, and oscilloscope-level troubleshooting to isolate root causes and drive corrective action.
  • Experience with requirements traceability, structured verification processes (V-model), and statistical test data analysis (Cpk, yield tracking) to support manufacturing readiness.
  • Strong cross-functional communicator with the ability to translate test results into clear, actionable findings for engineering, manufacturing, and leadership audiences., * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems integration, test engineering, or electro-optical product verification; experience in a product-focused hardware company or high-growth environment a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) as required by ITAR/EAR export control regulations.
