Job description

Retail Services and Systems, Inc. (dba Total Wine & More) is seeking a Lead Data Engineer (Warehousing) to work at our Bethesda, MD HQ.

You will

  • Partner with Data Services leadership team to develop vision for next evolution of Enterprise Data & Analytics Platform.
  • Partner with Data Services product owners, data warehouse engineers, data scientists, and BI developers to support and deliver reports, predictive models, datasets, and solutions.
  • Design and implement improvements to data workflows to improve efficiency and reduce costs and develop new features to support business requirements.
  • Design and build data quality testing processes and monitoring of processes to ensure access to quality data for business partners and end users.
  • Assist with implementation of data architecture and data governance standards and best practices.
  • Create and manage batch and real time data pipelines, including managing and enhancing Kafka and Kubernetes implementations.
  • Stay informed of new tech and trends to guide optimization and continuous advancement of platforms.
  • Be proactive and take ownership of projects and tasks.
  • Coach junior team members and share knowledge with broader team.
  • Implement good security practices to handle sensitive information.
  • May undergo background checks including drug screening.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Technology, or related field.
  • 5 years relevant alcohol beverage industry experience in data engineering, data warehousing, data architecture, and data modeling.
  • Skills (5 years experience) in: GCP environment - BigQuery, Airflow/Cloud Composer, Cloud functions, data loss prevention (DLP), PubSub, and Kubernetes (GKE); SQL and DBMSs; Python; dbt and Kafka data ingestion and transformation tools; data modeling solutions using cloud-native tools; data and analytics platforms - Dev-ops, Docker, CI/CD including GitHub, Cloud Build, Jenkins; Power BI.

Prevailing Wage Pay Range: $210,600.00 Annual, $214,650.00 - $322,020.00 Annual
