Job description

Location: On-site - DeKalb or Urbana, IL (with possible support to other Mid-Continent science centers) About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Program / Business Support Analyst to provide administrative, coordination, and program-support services to a federal science organization. You'll keep projects on track, produce clear reporting, and be the organizational glue that helps scientists and managers focus on the mission. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clerical support using standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, email)
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute correspondence, reports, manuals, training materials, and documentation
  • Track deliverables, schedules, and task-order activity; maintain automated tracking of personnel, due dates, and program data
  • Prepare reports on cost, schedule, and technical progress; compile status updates and briefing materials
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, and logistics; record and document meeting results
  • Support program coordination across technical, budget, and management stakeholders

Requirements

  • 5+ years of administrative, program-support, or business-analyst experience (federal environment preferred)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or a related field
  • Experience supporting the U.S. Department of the Interior or a federal science/research program
  • Familiarity with deliverable tracking, project coordination, or technical writing/editing
