Job description
The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEI&T) Engineer provides independent systems engineering and technical advisory support to the U.S. Government Space Force Protected Tactical SATCOM (PTS-G) Program Office. The role focuses on system-of-systems integration, prime contractor Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) oversight, and government-led systems integration and test activities.
This position supports government decision-making by assessing technical readiness, integration risks, and test maturity across contractor and government systems, ensuring alignment with program requirements, cost, schedule, and mission objectives.
- Support to US Government and the Tactical SATCOM Program Office organization responsible for Protected Tactical SATCOM acquisition, program management and technical execution of prime contractor Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) and provide support to integration to the Systems of Systems integration and test. Participate in regular meetings with Government and prime contractor.
- Provide direct support to the U.S. Government and Tactical SATCOM Program Office responsible for Protected Tactical SATCOM acquisition, program management, and technical execution.
- Support government-led System-of-Systems (SoS) Integration and Test, ensuring interoperability across space vehicles, payloads, ground systems, terminals, and enterprise interfaces.
- Participate in regular technical and programmatic meetings with government stakeholders and prime contractors, representing the government's technical interests.
- Perform independent Space Vehicle Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) technical assessments of prime contractor activities.
- Identify and assess discrepancies between planned and actual technical performance, including impacts to: Cost, Schedule, Quality, technical margins and risk
- Evaluate contractor AI&T readiness, test execution, and problem resolution effectiveness.
- Identify technical issues, anomalies, and risks, and assess downstream impacts to SoS integration and operational capability.
- Provide detailed written and verbal assessments of technical progress, integration maturity, and risk posture.
- Identify, elevate, and track technical and programmatic challenges requiring government attention.
- Develop and communicate clear, actionable technical recommendations to support key government program decisions.
- Examine system requirements that drive cost, complexity, or schedule risk, and identify potential alternatives to mitigate risk or improve affordability while preserving capability.
- Provide technical inputs to acquisition documentation, including Statements of Work (SOW), Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), Compliance Document Lists (CDLs)
- Review proposed contractor changes to Class I documents, specifications, and compliance artifacts.
- Evaluate tailoring of compliance documentation and provide independent recommendations to the Government.
- Support test planning, verification, and validation activities related to SoS integration.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science
- 8+ years' experience with SATCOM requirements development, Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T), system testing, and production activities
- Experience supporting program office technical, schedule, and cost activities, including risk and issue identification
- Possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop solutions to complex technical issues under limited supervision
- Possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey technical details clearly to government leadership
- Demonstrated ability to identify priorities and execute tasks with minimal direction or supervision
- Experience designing, analyzing, and assessing spacecraft and payload hardware to provide in-depth technical evaluations and identify risks
- Experience designing, analyzing, and assessing SATCOM ground systems to provide in-depth technical evaluations and identify risks, * Possess a Secret or higher clearance
- Master's degree in technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science
- Experience with system-of-systems integration and test across space, ground, and user segments
- Familiarity with government test frameworks, verification strategies, and integration planning
- Experience reviewing or supporting Class I changes, configuration management, and technical baselines
- Systems engineering or program management certifications such as CSEP, ESEP, PMI / PMP
Basic Compensation: $135,000 to $169,000 in California
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
