Nortek Data Center Cooling (DCC) is seeking an experienced and hands-on End-of-Line Test Engineer to support the testing, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mission-critical HVAC equipment for data center applications.
This role is responsible for ensuring completed units meet performance, quality, safety, and customer requirements prior to shipment. The End-of-Line Test Engineer will design and support automated test systems, develop PLC/HMI-based controls solutions, execute and improve testing processes, analyze performance data, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams.
The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical, electrical, controls, and HVAC knowledge with a passion for problem-solving, process improvement, and automation. This individual will play a key role in supporting both current production testing and future testing capabilities as the business continues to grow., * Develop, execute, and continuously improve end-of-line testing procedures for HVAC and cooling equipment.
- Verify product performance against design specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements prior to shipment.
- Design, develop, and deploy automated test systems for both engineering validation and production environments.
- Develop automation solutions from concept through implementation, including electrical schematics, control panel design, PLC/HMI programming, and validation testing.
- Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC- and HMI-based test systems using platforms such as ABB, Siemens, or equivalent controls architectures.
- Design and integrate test equipment, sensors, instrumentation, electrical panels, and data acquisition systems.
- Develop and optimize PID control loops, automated testing sequences, and system control strategies.
- Configure and maintain data acquisition systems used to collect and analyze product performance data.
- Execute testing activities including setup, calibration, measurement, troubleshooting, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, refrigeration, hydronic, and HVAC system issues identified during testing.
- Analyze test results to validate product performance, identify failure modes, and support root-cause investigations.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support new product introductions and product improvements.
- Support customer witness testing and factory acceptance testing activities as needed.
- Train production personnel and end users on end-of-line testing equipment, software, and procedures.
- Develop and maintain testing documentation, work instructions, training materials, and presentations using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Support and promote facility safety programs, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), hazard identification, and safe work practices.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, automation, testing, HVAC, controls, or a related technical field.
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
- Experience with HMI development and controls integration.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter capable of working independently and cross-functionally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- Experience with HVACR equipment, air handling systems, refrigeration systems, hydronic systems, or data center cooling equipment.
- Experience with ABB, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, or similar PLC platforms.
- Experience designing automated test equipment and production test systems.
- Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of psychrometrics, refrigeration cycles, and thermodynamic testing.
- Experience with LabVIEW, Python, VBA, or other programming languages.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE, AHRI, ANSI, AMCA, and ISO testing standards.
- Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
