Job description
The Platform Engineer will support and improve critical DevOps, AI, GPU, and Kubernetes infrastructure used across Samsung Austin Semiconductor. This role will help maintain the reliability, scalability, and usability of internally hosted platforms, including CI/CD services, AI/LLM services, GPU compute infrastructure, and Kubernetes-based application hosting.
This role supports an air gapped in-house platform environment, so the engineer should be comfortable working beyond managed cloud services and troubleshooting across application, container, Linux, and infrastructure layers.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Linux, CI/CD, monitoring, automation, containerized applications, and maintaining a large platform. This person should be comfortable troubleshooting complex systems, writing scripts and tools, supporting developers, responding to incidents, and working with cross-functional teams.
Role and Responsibilities
Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Maintain and improve Kubernetes infrastructure used by internal DevOps platforms.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and playbooks using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and Loki
- Respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and improve platform reliability.
- Own and support CI/CD platform operations, including build/deploy pipelines, automation, release workflows, and developer support
- Operate and improve GPU Platform, including model-serving infrastructure, API reliability, usage monitoring, resource management and platform troubleshooting.
- Work directly with factory engineers, citizen developers, HQ/Taylor counterparts, and internal platform users to support adoption, resolve issues, and improve platform capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM field.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker/containerized applications, Linux systems, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Strong programming and scripting skills, preferably in Python, Bash, SQL, and/or .NET.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps workflows such as Git, Jenkins, Ansible, GitLab or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting production systems, including troubleshooting, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with AI/LLM infrastructure, Kubernetes, observability tools such as Prometheus/Grafana/Loki, and working with cross-functional or global engineering teams.
Benefits & conditions
The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
