Job description
Identifies, plans, tracks, and purchases parts and equipment for automation products produced at Engel North America. Works to support Automation (EAN) and CSD/Machine (EUS)., * Works with internal customers and internal/external vendors to coordinate the timing of deliveries with known project schedules
- Works together with the Engel US purchasing department, as well as other global teams Negotiate price, terms, delivery time and maintain information in the MRP system (SAP) Pivot to alternate suppliers when required
- Issue Purchase Orders (POS) for goods and services according to company policies and procedures. Review product specifications to choose best vendor.
- Contact vendor and/or engineering to correct errors if receive feedback from the EUS stock room that parts are inaccurate
- Procure item per project requirements/demand in SAP
- Coordinate with shipping and receiving department for project requirements
- Track deliveries and proactively communicate any delivery delays to the project team split between EAN and EUS (up to 25%)
- Updates MRP system on a regular basis - pricing/lead time, etc
- Create non-inventory purchases for ENGEL departments and facilities
- Work regularly with the logistic coordinator and production team to order bulk replenishment
Performs administrative duties
- Works with accounting to ensure P.O.s and invoices match Attaches the necessary documents to P.O.s electronically Assists accounting team with setting up new vendors
- Support the Quality team on non-conformance incidents
- Support the Automation team on project cost analysis
- Run confirmations and overdue reports to monitor deliveries, motivate vendors if needed
- Attend weekly production meeting, and project related meetings.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in SAP or other MRP systems, MS Word and Excel.
- Good communication skills - role requires regular interaction with others in the purchasing department, technical teams, and department managers. Also works with suppliers, vendors and internal customers on a daily basis to resolve issues and negotiate contracts.
- Negotiation skills are required.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to prioritize work and respond to emergencies/deadlines in a timely manner. Customer service orientation is a must.
- Ability to read/interpret technical specification a plus (material/finish/etc)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Travel Requirements:
- Some travel to US suppliers may be required < 5%
Mental Requirements:
- Ability to handle fast paced environments
Physical Requirements:
Requires sitting at a computer and keyboarding, data input and reading for periods of time longer than 2 hours on a continuous basis and occasional walking. Listening skills are important for working with vendors on negotiations, gathering information for/from vendors and gather information for co-workers. Occasional exposure to noise may happen.
