At this time, Dominion Energy cannot transfer or sponsor a work visa or employment authorization for this position., The Senior Data Engineer and Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and optimizing data solutions that collect, store, process, and make data accessible for analytics, reporting, and business decision-making. This role works closely with Data Product Owners, business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to develop scalable data pipelines, support data integration initiatives, and ensure the reliability, quality, and performance of enterprise data assets.

Responsibilities include designing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes, ingesting data from various sources including APIs, databases, and flat files, transforming and validating data, and developing efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures. The Data Engineer supports the implementation of data product backlog items, assists in troubleshooting and resolving data quality and performance issues, and contributes to the development and optimization of cloud-based data warehouse solutions.

Depending on experience level, the role may involve leading complex data engineering initiatives, optimizing data warehouse performance, mentoring junior team members, and driving best practices in data architecture, data modeling, and data integration. The ideal candidate is analytical, quality-focused, and capable of working collaboratively across teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing data solutions that support organizational goals., * Implement features and enhancements from the data product backlog.

• Partner with Data Product Owners and business stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements.
• Assist in building and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Support data ingestion from APIs, relational databases, and flat files.
• Clean, transform, and validate data to ensure quality and consistency.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for reporting and data extraction.
• Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to meet analytical requirements.
• Monitor data workflows and troubleshoot data pipeline issues.
• Maintain documentation for data processes and technical solutions.
• Follow data engineering best practices and standards.
• Learn from and collaborate with senior engineers on enterprise initiatives.
• Perform ad hoc data analysis and queries to support business needs., * Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT solutions and enterprise data pipelines.
• Build and optimize data integration processes using Talend and related technologies.
• Design efficient database structures and implement data modeling best practices.
• Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data loading performance.
• Develop and maintain Snowflake cloud data warehouse solutions.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to define data requirements and solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data quality and performance issues.
• Support modernization initiatives involving cloud technologies and data platforms.
• Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices.

• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Understanding of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including star and snowflake schemas.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or TFS.
• Understanding of data modeling principles.
• Exposure to ETL tools such as Talend, Informatica, or SSIS.
• Working knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, and database table design.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Shell scripting., * 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• Extensive experience with Talend ETL.
• Advanced SQL skills, including:
• Stored procedures
• Database and table design
• Query optimization
• ETL performance tuning
• Strong experience with Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse.
• Proficient in SQL for data manipulation, transformation, and querying within Snowflake.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Shell scripting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify patterns and resolve data quality issues.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong focus on quality, accountability, flexibility, and achievement of results., * Experience supporting AI/ML or advanced analytics pipelines.
• Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Prior experience influencing enterprise data standards or reference architecture.
• Experience optimizing cost and performance in cloud data warehouses.
• Hands-on experience with Cribl, Apache Kafka, Kafka Connect, Spark Streaming, or Apache Flink
• Experience Data catalog platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica IDMC, Alation)
• Experience with Data Observability Platforms (e.g., Monte Carlo, Data dog, Atlan)

Senior Data Engineer $90900 - $118100

Data Engineer $81,900- $106,400

The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
