Job description

We are seeking a Senior Database Developer to support a cloud-native application on Microsoft Azure, with a focus on building and optimizing robust database solutions. This role offers the opportunity to own database design and performance while partnering closely with application, backend, and DevOps teams in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Azure SQL and SQL Server databases that support enterprise-level applications
  • Create and optimize T-SQL objects such as stored procedures, functions, views, queries, and indexes
  • Improve database performance, reliability, scalability, and data integrity
  • Work closely with application developers to support backend and full-stack functionality
  • Implement database deployments using PowerShell and automated release pipelines
  • Support CI/CD workflows with Azure DevOps and GitHub
  • Manage schema versioning, migrations, partitioning, and coordinated releases across environments
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, including performance tuning and root cause analysis
  • Apply database security controls and follow best practices for access and compliance

Requirements

  • Strong experience as a Senior Database Developer or in a similar hands-on database role
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server and Azure SQL
  • Deep T-SQL development skills, including query optimization and indexing
  • Practical experience with Azure-based database environments and cloud architecture
  • Hands-on experience using PowerShell for automation and database deployment
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps pipelines and GitHub
  • Solid understanding of database design principles and data modeling
  • Experience supporting applications built with .NET / C#
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Bicep, ARM, or Terraform
  • Familiarity with database monitoring and performance diagnostics in Azure
  • Knowledge of security, auditing, and compliance considerations
  • Background working in Agile or Scrum delivery environments
