Job description
We are looking for an experienced IP NOC Engineer to support the monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational management of complex IP network infrastructures. The role focuses on ensuring the stability and availability of network services by monitoring network systems, handling configuration and maintenance requests, resolving incidents, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
The engineer will work with various networking technologies, including routing and switching, firewalls, load balancers, authentication systems, VPN solutions, and network management platforms within a large-scale, multi-site environment.
Responsibilities Monitor and supervise IP networks by reviewing information and alarms provided by network management systems and network devices. Analyse and verify alerts related to different technologies, including: Routing and switching (Cisco/Juniper) Load balancing (F5) Firewalls (Checkpoint, Palo Alto) Authentication systems (Cisco ISE) IP address management, DHCP, and DNS solutions VPN concentrators Act as a point of contact for network-related requests from internal teams, including IT support, server teams, asset management teams, and network colleagues. Handle network changes, service requests, incident reports, and information requests. Perform configuration activities and resolve requests in collaboration with other members of the network team. Support hardware installation, replacement, staging, and configuration activities at administrative sites and data centres. Perform first-level troubleshooting and event correlation for network incidents. Investigate issues, implement workarounds, and coordinate the resolution of incidents. Collaborate with senior network engineers and architects for more complex technical issues. Coordinate with vendors, technology providers, and service providers regarding incidents and technical problems. Maintain accurate network documentation, including inventories, management systems, Excel records, and network diagrams. Share technical knowledge through documentation, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Contribute to operational improvements and enhancements within the Network Operations Centre.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics, ICT, Telecommunications, or equivalent technical experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in an IP Network Operations Centre, network support, or similar operational environment. Strong practical and operational knowledge of IP networks in multi-site environments and data centres. Experience with: Cisco switches and routers configuration and troubleshooting Network monitoring and management systems Firewall technologies Load balancing solutions DHCP/DNS services VPN technologies Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network incidents in a structured and methodical way. Ability to work independently, take responsibility, and accurately assess risks. Customer-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills. Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and service providers. Flexible and able to handle changing priorities and urgent operational situations. Willingness to continuously develop and expand technical knowledge of IP networks. Fluent written and spoken English. Fluent in either French or Dutch.
