Job description
As a Software Engineer, you'll design, program, simulate, test, and optimize machine control systems for a wide variety of customer projects. From concept development through to commissioning, you'll help create reliable, innovative automation solutions that meet exact customer requirements.
Depending on your experience level, you'll either support projects as part of a team or take technical ownership of complex automation solutions., * Design and implement PLC, motion control, and HMI solutions.
- Create customer-specific and standard software functionalities.
- Develop flowcharts, control strategies, and software architectures.
- Program, test, validate, and optimize machine software.
- Troubleshoot and improve existing software modules.
Project Engineering
- Translate specifications into practical automation solutions.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and software design files.
- Support feasibility studies and technical evaluations.
- Develop test plans and validation strategies.
- Review user requirement specifications and system requirements.
- Assist in selecting hardware and automation components.
Customer & Project Support
- Support Operations, Service, Sales, and Manufacturing teams.
- Participate in technical meetings and design reviews.
- Present and defend technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with suppliers and technology partners.
- Travel to customer sites to support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
Leadership Opportunities (Medior & Senior Engineers)
- Lead the software engineering scope of projects.
- Review software developed by other engineers.
- Mentor and support Junior Engineers.
- Contribute to project planning and resource management.
- Drive technical improvements and engineering best practices.
Senior-Level Responsibilities
- Act as the technical authority for machine control systems.
- Lead software architecture and technical decision-making.
- Coach and develop engineering talent.
- Support project estimation and resource planning.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function.
Requirements
Junior Software Engineer
- Technical vocational qualification (MBO) or equivalent technical education.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant industrial automation experience.
Medior Software Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Technical Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
Senior Software Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of industrial automation experience.
- Previous experience leading projects and coaching engineers.
Technical Expertise
You'll ideally have experience with:
- PLC programming and industrial control systems
- Motion control and machine automation
- HMI and visualization software
- Robotics and vision systems
- Industrial communication networks and machine controls
- Software development methodologies and structured programming
- Machine safety standards, EMC requirements, and Performance Level (PL) concepts
- Mechanical engineering principles and machine operation
- Creating technical documentation and software specifications
