Job description

  • Design and build secure cloud platform environments, with a strong focus on AWS
  • Support cloud implementation projects across AWS and Azure
  • Work with Red Hat Linux and OpenShift cluster environments
  • Build and automate infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible
  • Support containerised platforms using Kubernetes and OpenShift
  • Produce technical designs, documentation, and architecture artefacts
  • Work with customers to understand requirements and shape practical solutions
  • Build out architecture frameworks and reusable delivery approaches
  • Support test, development, and internal platform environments
  • Troubleshoot cloud, Linux, container, and automation issues
  • Work across 1-2 customer projects at a time

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience across cloud infrastructure and platform engineering
  • Good AWS experience, ideally including secure infrastructure design and build
  • Azure experience would also be useful
  • Strong Linux background, ideally Red Hat
  • Experience with OpenShift and/or Kubernetes
  • Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly Terraform
  • Automation and configuration management experience, ideally Ansible
  • Comfortable producing technical documentation and design material
  • Able to work in a customer-facing consultancy environment
  • Happy to remain hands-on while also contributing to architecture and solution design
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Previous consultancy or client-facing project experience is useful
  • Experience in secure or regulated environments is useful
  • MOD, defence, public sector, or SC-cleared project experience is useful
  • CI/CD tooling such as GitLab, Jenkins, or similar is useful
  • Monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, or similar is useful
  • CloudFormation or other IaC tooling is useful
  • Windows Server exposure alongside Linux is useful
  • Knowledge of IAM, networking, VPNs, certificates, resilience, and security best practice is useful

Benefits & conditions

We are a growing technical consultancy delivering secure cloud and infrastructure solutions across customer environments. We offer a permanent role based from home with 1-2 days a week in Birmingham, and a salary of £70,000 - £80,000 plus benefits. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys both design and implementation, and wants to grow further toward architecture while staying technically involved.
