Job description

  • Provide hands-on Node.js development and technical leadership within an Agile delivery team
  • Guide and support less experienced engineers
  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality products that power essential services
  • Ensure services remain robust, resilient, stable, and scalable
  • Work closely with Delivery Managers, Business Analysts, Test Automation Engineers, and Technical Architects
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including refinement, estimation, planning, and reviews
  • Deliver high-quality, scalable code aligned with engineering strategy and software engineering best practices
  • Maintain operational stability, performance, and scalability of the services we build
  • Emphasise automated testing, CI/CD principles, and modern DevOps tooling

  • Fullstack, We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer / Senior Software Engineer to join our Agile delivery team on a 6-month contract at a day rate of £550 inside IR35. This is a hybrid role with occasional travel to Newcastle. We work collaboratively across delivery, analysis, testing, and architecture to build and support essential services. The role offers the opportunity to contribute technical leadership, hands-on development, and strong engineering practices within a fast-moving Agile environment.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Node.js, including frameworks such as Express
  • Proficiency with NPM
  • Strong commitment to Test Driven Development (TDD) and common test frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or Chai
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL data stores such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
  • Experience with containers, especially Docker
  • Experience with TypeScript
  • Knowledge of microservices and event-driven architecture such as Kafka, SNS/SQS, or EventBridge
  • Cloud platform experience, particularly AWS
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Node.js performance tuning and observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry
