Job description

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture is looking for an Application Architect in the Office of Administrative Services, Division of Information Technology, Application Development and Analysis Branch.

Duties of this position will include:

  • Designs and presents information technology plans.
  • Analyzes project requests for integration and design of new application development and, or, major system modifications.
  • Prepares documentation, long range information technology plans and summaries of agency project requests.
  • Designs, develops and supports complex web, mobile and windows applications.
  • Uses architecture patterns like layered architecture, Model-View Controller (MVC) and Microservices.
  • Develops front-end user interfaces using markup languages, styling frameworks, scripting languages, and modern web frameworks.
  • Develops and codes the backend using server-side programming, frameworks, and object- relational mapping tools.
  • Designs databases and develops stored procedures for database management systems.
  • Designs and develops reports using data reporting and visualization tools.
  • Works with version control software for managing code changes.
  • Provides technical assistance to systems analysts, programmers, business analysts and, or, contract consultants in the development and integration of system applications to enable the business processes of the agency.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates or presents complex information technology training.
  • Develops policy and procedures and conducts training for new systems and web maintenance.

Requirements

EDUCATION: High School graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Eight years of experience in information technology (IT) or a related field.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education in Information Technology or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in IT or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis OR a certification in an IT-related field will substitute for the required education.
