As Friends Center for Children expands its educational programs, advances the nation's first Free Teacher Housing Village, and prepares for the next phase of its capital campaign, we are seeking a Development Manager to help build the operational foundation for our next stage of growth. This role will oversee fundraising operations, grants management, donor stewardship, and campaign support, ensuring our advancement efforts are organized, strategic, and positioned for long-term success., Position Summary: Friends Center is expanding both its educational impact and nationally recognized teacher housing initiatives while preparing for the next phase of its capital campaign. We are seeking a Development Manager to lead the operational infrastructure that supports a growing advancement program. Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, the Development Manager oversees fundraising operations, donor stewardship, grants management, prospect research, campaign support, and advancement systems. This role ensures the organization's fundraising efforts are organized, data-driven, and donor-centered while helping build a sustainable culture of philanthropy.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvancement Operations & Donor Stewardship
- Manage the donor database and maintain accurate constituent records.
- Process gifts, pledges, acknowledgments, recurring and matching gifts.
- Oversee donor stewardship, portfolio tracking, fundraising reports, and gift documentation.
- Prepare donor briefings, giving histories, and leadership materials.
- Develop and improve advancement systems, workflows, and policies.
Grants & Institutional Giving
- Manage the grants calendar and proposal schedule.
- Draft and submit grant proposals in collaboration with leadership and program staff.
- Track reporting deadlines, grant requirements, and institutional funder records.
- Gather organizational data and outcomes for proposals and reports.
Campaign & Fundraising
- Coordinate annual fundraising initiatives and capital campaign activities.
- Conduct prospect research on individual, corporate, and foundation funders.
- Prepare donor proposals, campaign materials, correspondence, and reports.
- Coordinate donor meetings, cultivation activities, and follow-up.
Events & Administration
- Coordinate donor and fundraising events from planning through stewardship.
- Prepare board materials, presentations, and advancement reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 3-5 years of nonprofit fundraising, development operations, or advancement experience.
- Experience managing donor databases/CRM systems.
- Experience supporting grant writing and institutional fundraising.
- Strong project management, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail.
