HOW A PostgreSQL DATABASE ANALYST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has an immediate need for a PostgreSQL database analyst to analyze, design, develop, implement, and support database infrastructure deployment and management. The individual will work under limited supervision and perform additional duties as assigned to include, but not limited to:

  • Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of servers running on one or more operating systems.

  • Maintains database integrity and security, configures role-based access control (RBAC), and sets up administrative accounts.

  • Sets up administrator and service accounts.

  • Maintain documentation for configurations, standards, and procedures

  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.

  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

  • Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

  • Provides advice on performance tuning and training to end-users.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

  • Evaluates open-source or vendor tools and participates in database migration/special modernization projects.

  • Collaborate with developers on schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures

  • Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, and migrations

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements

  • Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience

  • 5 + years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.

  • PostgreSQL experience required. Oracle database administration a plus.

  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent recommended.

  • Experience in PostgreSQL administration/tuning; including knowledge and implementation of database high-availability solutions

  • Experience in monitoring, creating, and managing PostgreSQL server agent alerts

  • Experience with Database backup, restore, migration, and Database snapshot technologies/strategies

  • Knowledge on how to build/maintain efficient database table structures for both transactional and warehouse data

  • Knowledge of Oracle 19c administration and performance tuning

  • Migration experience with Oracle, MySQL, and PostgresSQL, 5 + years of related experience

This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
