Job description

Oversees operations of multiple departments and/or campuses across the entire district. Develops long-term strategic planning for multiple departments or campuses and oversees the implementation of these plans. Reports to the Top Executive district level for any and all aspects of department or campus performance., Direct and manage the district's Technology and Management Information Systems (MIS). Coordinate and supervise performance tasks related to the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) and SAISD State Assessment Program. Ensure efficient and effective access to information and related technology by all campuses and administrative departments. Adhere to the State of Texas accountability systems rules and regulations and district policy and procedures.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage assigned offices: Technology & Integrations; Networking; Operations & Systems Integration;

Instructional Technology; PEIMS, Data & Systems Design; Data Warehouse; PEIMS & Student Data and

Technology Business Services.

  1. Manage the development of an in-house data reporting system for all nine functions of SAISD operations.

  2. Oversee district technology projects and systems integration.

  3. Lead strategic technological planning to achieve organizational goals by prioritizing technology initiatives

and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.

  1. Provide guidance and management of the District E-Rate program.

  2. Investigate and demonstrate knowledge of current database programming and software development.

  3. Provide tools and direction for district-wide planning and decision making.

  4. Coordinate campus planning, accountability, principal evaluation, and programmatic activities/concerns

with Deputy Superintendent and Leadership Executive Directors.

  1. Update Superintendent on technology and information systems management affairs of the district.

  2. Provide state and federal data to staff to assist in academic goal setting and accountability efforts.

  3. Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.

  1. Supervise and evaluate job performance of assigned employees including Executive Directors and Directors

of Technology.

  1. Compile budget and cost estimates based upon documented program needs; manage departmental budget

effectively and efficiently.

  1. Evaluate software and hardware for suitability and applicability within the District's data repositories.

  2. Coordinate the purchase of all computer hardware, software and supplies, initiate purchase orders and bids

in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policy

  1. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position., * Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and

equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.

  • Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional

exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting,

standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.

Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports

  • Supervise and evaluate performance of assigned staff including professional, support staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Education or

Computer Science or 4 years equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of relevant experience to include 2 years with data warehousing and/or data marts.

  • Progressive leadership experience to include:

o Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, and Managing employees or teams. o Coaching, Mentoring, Developing, and Performance Managing employees or teams.

  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee

(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Education or

Computer Science

  • 10+ years of relevant experience to include 2 years with data warehousing and/or data marts.

  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience to include:

o Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, and Managing employees or teams. o Coaching, Mentoring, Developing, and Performance Managing employees or teams.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Business and/or student type application programming and databases

  • Broad knowledge of microcomputer hardware and peripheral devices

  • Database design and database languages

  • PEIMS reporting requirements

  • Student and Business information systems

  • Database normalization, data extraction and data aggregation

  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of local area network project implementation to include but not limited to Ethernet networks

using Novell Advanced NetWare and Windows NT and/or 2000

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical and procedural problems and to confidently articulate the

rationale for technology-based decisions

  • Knowledge of one of the following languages/databases: Visual Basic, Delphi, C, Pascal, Java script, MS

SQL, Oracle, or DB/2

  • Knowledge of one of the following reporting tools: Access, Crystal Reports, R&R Report Writer, Cognos

Impromptu or Oracle Report Writer

Benefits & conditions

Pay Grade: E24 Minimum Salary: * $122,937 Mid-Point Salary: $144,633

Minimum Workdays:
