As a the Data Analytics Engineer with Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) supporting the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will play a key role in shaping and advancing the strategic foundation for analytics and reporting to solve complex business challenges. You will apply advanced professional expertise in analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and supporting the administration, maintenance, and security of data within modern database platforms, helping the Minnesota Department of Corrections realize its vision of managing data as a strategic asset. This position is telework eligible for applicants who reside in Minnesota or in a bordering state, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance. If you live in a state bordering Minnesota, you must live within 50 miles of less from the primary work location to be eligible for telework. Telework arrangements and policy updates may be adjusted based on business needs., It is the policy of Minnesota IT Services that a successful candidate must pass all legally required check prior to employment which may consist of the following:

Requirements
To qualify, candidates must clearly show all of the following qualifications in their resume. Resume tips available here: Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in business intelligence or data analytics. Experience must include:
- Azure tech stack like Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric, Power BI.
- Strong knowledge of DAX and Power Query for data modeling and transformations.
- Experience connecting Power BI to multiple data sources (SQL Server, Azure, APIs, Excel, SharePoint, etc.)
- Strong SQL for analyzing the data and experience with data modeling and database design.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
- Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months., * Familiarity with data security concepts, including row-level security in Power BI.
- Ability to design interactive dashboards that provide actionable insights for business users.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills., * Understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data visualization best practices.
- Knowledge of Python/R for advanced analytics.
- Effective communication, presentation, active listening and interpersonal skills to lead others in the establishment of business intelligence and analytics.
