Job description
The expert integration engineer takes organizational goals from vision to solution by performing gap analysis, purchase plan, resource assignment and oversight of development to achieve integrated systems. This role leads the integration engineer team to develop standardized solutions that are well documented and ensures the cross training of the team. This role acts as a project manager between the integration engineers, information systems, vendors and the remainder of the organization with limited guidance.

Demonstrated ability to manage and be responsible for a portfolio of projects related to assigned support areas in totality. This includes definition of projects, documented identification of major milestones and follow-through on all aspects leading to successful, on-time completion. Skills should include the ability to execute with a sense of urgency to drive the project to completion while maintaining perspective on the wider Information Systems Portfolio and business demands. Competencies include the demonstrated ability and knowledge to prepare a Scope Document, prepare a work breakdown structure, understanding differences in various ways to determine resource estimates, knowledge of and ability to document stakeholders and prepare a RACI chart outlining responsibilities. Additionally, appropriate judgment should be demonstrated in escalating as necessary to maintain appropriate attention on projects. Demonstrated skill and knowledge of techniques in keeping stakeholders up to date on status; ability to coordinate activity across multiple projects and to manage projects using clearly defined and documented deadlines, budget and scope. Utilize critical path analysis to ensure projects stay on schedule. Ensures status reporting is proactive, up to date and appropriate for target audiences. Documented capability to resolve team conflicts in a respectful, positive manner toward project goals prior to escalation to affective conflict between team members.

Demonstrated ability to identify, research, and resolve operational issues arising as needed. Follow up with users in a timely manner to ensure problem resolution and take proactive measures to prevent recurrence. In a positive manner, enhance the presentation of Information Systems to the rest of the organization with delighting customer service. Proactively identify and promote strategic opportunities for improvement within assigned areas. For all team owned applications create and maintain documentation including both high and low level architecture diagrams as appropriate, document vendor support contact information, be knowledgeable of service contracts periods and pricing, product recalls, patient safety issues, storage requirements and growth, licensing requirements, age of infrastructure and current and installed software product levels.

Demonstrated awareness, alignment and coordination on the business goals and activity of customers. This includes demonstrating the ability to clearly articulate both goals and areas of importance to customers in relation to supported services. Demonstrated good judgment in terms of system architecture, build and design decisions to ensure high reliability of services. Maintains positive and professional relationships with customers at all times. Provides appropriate prioritization of requests and projects in relation to the business goals of customers. Provide training to customers as required maximizing the benefit and utilization of Information Systems provided services. Demonstrates an ability to communicate complex topics to lay customer audiences. Ensure familiarity with all services managed by their team and cross train as necessary to provide management, rapid end customer support and issue resolution. Ensure the wider Information Systems department is familiar with supported services through presentations to staff, establishing cross-training opportunities and through project planning opportunities. Acts as a liaison in integration initiatives within Information Systems and other departments throughout the hospital. Attends seminars and training sessions necessary to maintain appropriate level of professional competence. Assists in ensuring all department, hospital, compliance, HIPAA and JCAHO guidelines are met.

Oversees activities of vendors in all phases of installation, implementation, and training, applications and service upgrades. Serve as the primary contact for technical issues for secondary vendors with interfaces to the core applications. Serve as a day-to-day technical contact person between external vendors and other Information Systems Staff for interface related issues. Additionally maintains positive vendor relationships. Negotiates strongly on behalf of Luminis Health and represents customer interests while continuing to grow the relationship through positive interactions with our partners., The above job description is an overview of the functions and requirements for this position. Requirements
- Epic Bridges certification.
- 5 years of documented experience working with application systems, programming concepts, analytical tools and HL7 interfaces to build integrated solutions.
- 3 years of documented experience leading teams on specific projects.
- Expert knowledge of HL7, interface engines and HL7 application systems and analyst tools. Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking. A proficiency with interface engine technology is required. Competencies include working knowledge of HL7, HL7 analytical tools, programming experience, EPIC Bridges, Corepoint interface engine, XML, NCPDP, X.12, FTP, FHIR, system workflows and system triggers. Familiar with nomenclature standards LOINC, SnoMed, CPT, NDC, ICD-9 and ICD-10.
- Experience in health care environment. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of computer systems, software, monitoring tools, report writing tools and electronic communications as required related to assigned areas. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work effectively with diverse group of people. Excellent attention to detail. Experience with Epic, Corepoint and Healthcare electronic medical records preferred.
