Job description

The Principal Systems Engineer will be part of team responsible for the design, development, assembly, integration, test, and verification lifecycle activities for development and sustainment of satellites and related product technologies. This role requires strong technical leadership, cross functional coordination, and full life-cycle engineering expertise., * Drive research and development activities focused on new satellite and mission system technologies, including the creation of specifications, interface control documents, and comprehensive test artifacts supporting advanced structural, instrumentation, communication, propulsion, and operational system integration.

  • Support the design, prototyping, and validation of PCB-level electronics for spacecraft and ground systems, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to ensure seamless subsystem integration and high-reliability performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering groups to troubleshoot complex issues across satellite subsystems, applying rigorous methodologies to refine designs, evaluate new technologies, and mature concepts into flight-ready hardware.
  • Provide expert guidance for installation, functional testing, iterative redesign, and technology upgrades spanning satellite architectures, ground infrastructure, and mission operations environments.
  • Maintain detailed engineering documentation including verification matrices, test results, configuration records, and data packages generated throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Deliver clear, technically robust communication to internal teams, external customers, and mission partners, ensuring alignment across fast-moving research and engineering activities.
  • Perform additional R&D and engineering duties as needed to support innovation, rapid prototyping, and continuous improvement across spacecraft development programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related STEM field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Ten (10) years of broad engineering experience with systems architecture and design, systems documentation, systems requirements, and systems verification.
  • Three (3+) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with DOORS, CRADLE, DevOps or other system engineering lifecycle tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 for communication and collaboration., * Experience with full product lifecycles for complex systems that blend electrical, mechanical, and software elements.
  • Background in spacecraft systems design, especially electrical power systems and space environment considerations.
  • Experience developing and executing acceptance and qualification tests for spaceflight hardware.
  • Familiar with modern PCB design workflows (schematics, layout, testing, manufacturing).
  • Working knowledge of key electrical engineering domains such as power electronics, high speed digital design, and RF circuits.
