Job description

Support the management and oversight of important financial tasks to help maintain compliance, accuracy, and alignment with the brand teams for PH Canada & LA&C. This role involves gaining a solid understanding of financial systems, using analytical skills, and working well with different teams. Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the monthly and quarterly accounting close process for PH Canada & LA&C, focusing on accuracy, compliance, and meeting deadlines. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Revenue Recognition (ASC 606): Help prepare and post monthly amortization entries, monitor billings, and track franchise services expenses and revenue.
  • GST/HST Compliance: Prepare and update monthly GST/HST filings and remittance processes, ensuring compliance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations.
  • Sales Reporting and Analysis: Assist in preparing the monthly sales accrual. Analyze aged receivables and help with collection efforts. Contribute insights to support financial performance.
  • Collaboration and Transaction Support: Work with the brand Finance and Development teams to stay updated on new initiatives, transactions, and incentives. Assist the Controller in ensuring these are properly accounted for according to YUM policy and GAAP.
  • Monthly Reporting and Reconciliation: Prepare and submit SOR (Summary of Results) and accurately complete various roll-forward schedules. Perform monthly account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews, explaining variances and addressing discrepancies. Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure completeness of financial results. Settle intercompany balances.
  • Quarterly Reporting: Provide accurate year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter explanations for account variances in the Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) reporting package and Controller decks.
  • Other Responsibilities: Additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Control team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of accounting or finance with a strong emphasis on tax compliance, financial reporting, and analysis
  • Proficient knowledge of financial software and tools (e.g., JD Edwards, Reports Now, Hyperion Financial Management, Microsoft Suite)

Preferred Requirements

  • CPA designation preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Highly organized, with a skill for managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and driven by intellectual curiosity and logical thinking. A self-starter with the initiative to follow through and meet deadlines independently.

Benefits & conditions

Salary Range: $80,300 to $94,300 annually + bonus eligibility. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate's location, experience, and other job-related factors.
