Job description

Position Summary:The Development and Annual Giving Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive annual giving strategy in partnership with the Director of Development. This position will execute and track data-driven, multi-year fundraising plans and provide analysis and recommendations to increase campaign performance and donor engagement.

This role will help broaden Orchards Children's Services' donor base, strengthen annual giving and major donor pipelines, and generate sustainable revenue growth for the organization. The Development and Annual Giving Manager will serve as a key contributor to donor communications, crafting compelling, brand-conscious messaging for current and prospective supporters. In addition, this position will represent the agency and collaborate with the Director of Development to develop and implement initiatives that increase Orchards' visibility and engagement throughout the community.

The Development and Annual Giving Manager must be willing to work outside of traditional business hours when necessary to support agency events, donor activities, and meetings, including occasional evenings and weekends., * Develop and manage Orchards Children's Services' annual giving campaigns, including written appeals, donor cultivation activities, and fundraising solicitations.

  • Segment donor communications and manage donor data by generating and maintaining targeted lists from the CRM system.
  • Represent the agency within community-based fundraising organizations and networking groups.
  • Create compelling fundraising appeals and donor communications. (Writing samples will be requested.)
  • Grow and strengthen the organization's mid-level donor program through strategic cultivation and solicitation efforts aligned with the annual giving program.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors contributing between $1,000 and $5,000 annually.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies for donor cultivation, prospect identification, segmentation, acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with diverse donors, supporters, and community stakeholders.
  • Accurately document donor interactions and maintain constituent records within the donor database, including notes, cultivation activities, appeals, and segmentation data.
  • Create and manage digital fundraising campaigns, including e-blasts and email appeals.
  • Supervise the Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator, Marketing and Stewardship Coordinator, and Transportation Coordinator.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and execution of special events and other agency initiatives.
  • In partnership with the Director of Development, create and implement a comprehensive annual giving strategy and establish short- and long-term fundraising goals.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with vendors and agency staff to support successful fundraising campaigns and appeals. Research, evaluate, and recommend new vendors as appropriate.
  • Perform other development and philanthropy-related duties as assigned.

Adhere to all Agency policies and procedures. E. Complete assigned reports and documentation within established timeframes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience with 3-7+ years in annual giving, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Strong understanding of how annual giving integrates with broader development and fundraising strategies.
  • Proven experience identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills with the ability to create persuasive donor communications; grant writing experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service while maintaining respect for cultural, ethnic, and individual differences.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Experience developing and executing annual giving campaigns, direct mail appeals, and integrated fundraising initiatives.
  • Creativity combined with strong analytical skills to maximize campaign outcomes and identify opportunities for strategic improvement.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, building confidence and trust among colleagues, donors, and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical fundraising practices, confidentiality, and donor stewardship.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; experience with Blackbaud fundraising software preferred.
