Job description

Blu Omega is seeking a Database Admin/Engineer to support a federal program focused on mission-critical database operations within a national security environment. This role operates within a hybrid work environment and is responsible for managing secure database systems supporting industrial security workflows, case processing, reporting, and modernization efforts. The position requires experience supporting enterprise database environments, including Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, within a secure federal or DoD context. Program Overview Supporting the transition and modernization of legacy database capabilities into cloud-aligned services, ensuring operational stability, security, and performance., * Administer, engineer, monitor, and sustain database platforms supporting mission applications and data needs.

  • Serve as a technical resource for Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration and engineering.
  • Support schema management, indexing, query tuning, backups, recovery, replication, and high availability.
  • Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, locking, data integrity, and permission issues.
  • Support database changes for releases, migrations, environment refreshes, and modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with application, cloud, security, and operational teams to ensure database reliability and security.
  • Support cloud-hosted database environments, preferably in AWS, including monitoring, access control, encryption, and resiliency.
  • Maintain documentation, operational procedures, configuration details, and dependency records.
  • Monitor database health, capacity, availability, data quality, and security posture.
  • Support secure database operations including audit logging, vulnerability remediation, compliance, and RMF/ATO evidence.
  • Assist with reporting, data validation, and troubleshooting interface issues related to database structures or data quality., We partner with government agencies and large integrators to provide expertise in cybersecurity operations, cloud and infrastructure modernization, data and analytics, and enterprise IT support. Our teams are experienced operating within federal contracting environments, supporting task orders, recompetes, and programs requiring cleared personnel and compliant delivery.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Current DoD 8570 compliance at the required level.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and operational support.
  • Strong SQL skills, including query tuning, indexing, stored procedures, data integrity, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with backup, recovery, availability, capacity planning, and database monitoring.
  • Ability to support database releases, migrations, schema changes, and environment support in controlled environments.
  • Understanding of secure database operations in sensitive environments.
  • Strong documentation and cross-team communication skills., * Experience supporting secure mission platforms involving industrial security, case management, and enterprise reporting.
  • Experience with AWS RDS/Aurora, SQL Server on AWS, PostgreSQL on AWS, cloud migration, or hybrid database architectures.
  • Database automation, scripting, monitoring, and environment refresh support experience.
  • Knowledge of RMF, ATO, STIGs, POA&Ms, vulnerability remediation, audit logging, and data protection.
  • Experience with legacy database modernization, data refactoring, ETL/data movement, and application integration.
  • Certifications such as Security+ CE, Microsoft SQL Server/Azure, PostgreSQL, or AWS database/cloud certifications.
