Job description
As a Senior Cloud Architect (Microsoft 365 & Azure), you'll own the design, operations, governance, and cost management of our Microsoft 365 and Azure environment. You'll partner with security, infrastructure, and business teams to deliver a modern, secure, and reliable cloud workplace., * Own architecture and administration of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Purview.
- Design and implement tenant configuration, governance, and lifecycle management for sites, groups, teams, and licensing.
- Manage Microsoft 365 licensing strategy and optimize spend through right-sizing and license reclamation.
- Plan and execute platform upgrades, migrations, and feature rollouts (such as Copilot and new workloads).
- Administer Entra ID (Azure AD), including hybrid identity, SSO, application provisioning, and lifecycle workflows.
- Manage Intune for device configuration, compliance, app deployment, and autopilot provisioning.
- Design and operate Azure infrastructure: virtual networks, virtual machines, storage, backup, Site Recovery, and core PaaS services.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, ARM, or Terraform.
- Build automation with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph, using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions where appropriate.
- Maintain monitoring and alerting via Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Service Health.
- Establish and enforce cloud governance standards, including naming, tagging, RBAC, and policy-as-code.
- Lead FinOps practices to monitor consumption, forecast spend, and drive cost optimization across Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans and lead recovery exercises.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 and Azure issues.
- Partner with IT Security to implement secure-by-default configurations and remediate findings.
- Document standards and architecture decisions; mentor junior engineers and administrators.
Requirements
- 5-8 years in IT infrastructure or cloud engineering, including 3+ years focused on Microsoft 365 and Azure.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 workloads: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and tenant administration.
- Strong hands-on Azure experience across IaaS, networking, identity, storage, backup, and core PaaS services.
- Proficiency with Entra ID, Intune, and modern endpoint management.
- Strong scripting and automation skills with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph; familiarity with Bicep, ARM, or Terraform.
- Experience leading cloud migrations (Exchange and file shares to Microsoft 365; lift-and-shift or modernization to Azure).
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, firewalls, VPN/ExpressRoute) as they apply to cloud.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
