Job description

The Senior Full Stack Mainframe Engineer will support critical Customer & Account Management (CAM) applications by developing, maintaining, and modernizing enterprise mainframe solutions. This role partners closely with distributed engineering teams to ensure platform stability, production reliability, and successful integration between legacy mainframe systems and modern cloud-native applications.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep mainframe expertise who is capable of working across both legacy and distributed technologies while supporting ongoing modernization initiatives., * Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise mainframe applications supporting critical business functions.

  • Develop and support applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and Syncsort.
  • Analyze and resolve complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
  • Support both batch and online transaction processing while ensuring high availability and operational stability.
  • Collaborate with distributed engineering teams developing Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and AWS-based applications.
  • Participate in application modernization initiatives, API integration, and cloud transformation efforts.
  • Perform code reviews, testing, deployment support, and production readiness activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials to reduce key-person dependency.
  • Partner with engineering teams to continuously improve application performance, reliability, monitoring, and operational perfection.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of enterprise Mainframe development experience.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • COBOL
  • JCL
  • CICS
  • DB2 (Native SQL and COBOL Stored Procedures)
  • VSAM
  • Syncsort
  • Experience designing and integrating REST APIs using XML and JSON.
  • Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical production systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments., * Working knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
  • Experience with API testing tools such as Insomnia or Postman.
  • Experience integrating mainframe applications with distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Experience supporting application modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
