Job description

Adaptive Solutions Group is partnering with a growing organization to identify an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working across both database administration and data engineering while helping build scalable, secure, and high-performing data environments. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining SQL Server infrastructure, designing and supporting enterprise data solutions, and partnering with cross-functional teams to improve data accessibility, reliability, and performance. You'll also have the opportunity to work with modern Microsoft technologies, including Azure and AI-enabled SQL Server capabilities, to support the organization's evolving data strategy. What You'll Do

  • Administer and maintain SQL Server environments, including installations, upgrades, patching, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries, indexing, and system resources.
  • Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Design and support scalable data architecture, including databases, data warehouses, and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize ETL processes and data integration workflows.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver reliable reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Utilize Microsoft Azure technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Microsoft Fabric, to support cloud-based data initiatives.
  • Help implement AI-ready data solutions by leveraging modern SQL Server capabilities and emerging technologies.
  • Maintain database security, governance, and compliance with organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related discipline.
  • Five or more years of experience supporting SQL Server environments in a database administration and/or data engineering capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server administration, database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability.
  • Experience with data architecture, data modeling, ETL development, and enterprise data integration.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational database platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
