Job description
We are looking for a highly skilled Linux Engineer (IT Infrastructure) to join our agile development team. The ideal candidate must have in-depth knowledge of Linux and a strong automation-first mindset, using scripting and configuration management tools to develop, maintain and optimize workflows. The candidate should be proactive, capable of working with minimal guidance, and able to make architectural suggestions while knowing their limitations and seeking help when needed. It is not an operational role. Our team develops and maintains standardized IT infrastructure building blocks which are used in projects for Vanderlande customers. These IT infrastructure building blocks serve as the foundation on which other streams' software solutions run. The candidate plays a key-role in the development, maintenance and improvement of the Linux based building blocks while ensuring high stability, security, and performance. During the upcoming period a key topic will be updating Linux based modules to be NIS 2 & CRA compliant., * Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure Linux based IT infrastructure building blocks.
- Drive automation-first infrastructure management using scripting and configuration management tools.
- Design and implement infrastructure as code using configuration management and automation tools.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications.
- Work under strict revision control to ensure consistency and traceability in the development and maintenance of standardized Linux building blocks.
- Implement security controls, monitoring, and compliance with industry standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related incidents efficiently.
- Optimize performance, availability, and capacity of infrastructure components.
- Ensure transparent communication regarding personal capabilities and limitations, proactively requesting help when needed.
- Contribute to architectural decisions by providing well-informed suggestions.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Requirements
Automation-first mindset with a strong Linux foundation, We are looking for a highly skilled Linux Engineer (IT Infrastructure) to join our agile development team. The ideal candidate must have in-depth knowledge of Linux and a strong automation-first mindset, using scripting and configuration management tools to develop, maintain and optimize workflows., * Strong Linux expertise (Suse, Ubuntu, Debian, Rocky)
- Infrastructure automation & configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, YAML, Packer)
- Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
- CI/CD tools (eg. Bamboo or GitLab etc)
- Virtualization & Compute: A good understanding of the compute layer with a focus on virtualization and client-based hardware.
- Security: Infrastructure security best practices, vulnerability scanning, CIS-CAT hardening
- Monitoring & Logging: Experience with monitoring solutions

- Proactive and independent, capable of working with minimal guidance in short time.
- Excellent English
- Automation-first mindset, always looking to optimize and script repetitive tasks.
- Excellent communication skills & transparency (willing to share knowledge gaps and seek help when necessary).
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and improve IT infrastructure.
- Not an architect but able to contribute to architectural discussions by making well-founded suggestions.
- Able and willing to work also on the documentation and training material of the developed building block
