Job description
- Join a 7-member Scrum team within a wider programme delivering management systems for a new satellite
- Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle, including design, development and testing
- Design solutions using UML
- Develop software using Java technologies
- Work with the team to design, implement and test features for a new product development
- Develop code within an Agile Scrum environment
- Estimate tasks in line with sprint planning
- Work with microservices and support automated testing as part of the project

- microservices, We are supporting one of the industry leaders in aviation with the search for a Software Developer. This is a 12-month contract role, likely to be extended, based in Portsmouth with a hybrid working arrangement of around 3 days per week on site. The role sits within a collaborative Scrum team working on a new satellite programme, and we are looking for someone who can contribute to a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Requirements
- Core Java (version 8)
- Spring Boot and Spring Framework experience
- Good knowledge of developing in Spring with Hibernate
- Good knowledge of developing REST within HTTPS
- Experience developing within a microservice architecture
- Experience with web services using RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of distributed systems
- Knowledge and use of software design patterns
- Experience with Agile development processes
- Experience with CI/CD delivery techniques
- Experience with source code management, including Git
- Experience with issue tracking systems such as Jira
- Experience with UML/SysML using Enterprise Architect or a similar tool
- Ability to self-motivate and work well within a team environment
- Ability to promote innovation in self and others
- Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders in a confident and professional manner
