Job description

Plexible Digital Solutions Ltd is seeking a Head of Software Engineering to lead software development, guide engineering teams, and ensure reliable digital products are delivered efficiently. This role is ideal for an experienced technology leader who can combine technical direction with strong people management.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex software projects, ensuring adherence to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and best practices.
  • Develop and implement strategic roadmaps for application development, data warehousing, and system design that support organisational growth.
  • Oversee the architecture and deployment of cloud-based solutions using AWS, Azure, and other cloud platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Manage system infrastructure including server management, virtualisation (vSphere), SAN storage, network infrastructure, VPNs, firewalls, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as NIST standards for information security and network security protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ERP systems, APIs, machine learning models, AI applications, and other enterprise solutions.
  • Establish robust DevOps practices to streamline deployment pipelines using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD frameworks.
  • Maintain oversight of network security measures including DNS management, LAN/WAN configurations, MPLS networks, VoIP systems, and Active Directory services.
  • Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies such as React, Angular, Node.js, Python, JavaScript frameworks, PHP frameworks like Laravel or Symfony, MongoDB databases, Oracle databases, Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through professional development initiatives within the engineering team.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to IT hardware/software procurement and negotiation processes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in leading large-scale software engineering teams within a complex organisational environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud computing platforms including AWS and Azure.
  • Strong background in application development using.NET (C#, ASP.NET), Java (Spring), PHP frameworks; proficiency in HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript/React/Angular/Node.js.
  • Deep understanding of system design principles for high availability and disaster recovery planning.
  • Expertise in database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle DBMS, MongoDB; experience with data warehouse architecture.
  • Familiarity with network security protocols including VPNs, firewalls; experience managing WAN/LAN/MPLS networks.
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices for automation and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
  • Knowledge of information security standards including NIST guidelines.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining clear communication across teams.
  • Excellent analysis skills for troubleshooting complex technical issues and providing strategic solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel for data analysis; experience with help desk management tools is advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, PMP or cloud-specific certifications are desirable.

Pay: £7,200.00-£8,600.00 per month
