Job description
- Develop, test and maintain secure, reliable software using Python together with JavaScript or TypeScript
- Contribute to solution design, ensuring applications remain scalable, maintainable and aligned with modern cloud architecture
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing and continuous improvement of engineering standards
- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps and UX teams to deliver high-quality software through Agile sprints
- Work alongside senior technical colleagues to strengthen engineering capability and adopt best practice
- Support the ongoing enhancement of digital platforms that underpin critical energy systems

Requirements
- Commercial experience developing applications with Python and frameworks such as Django alongside JavaScript or TypeScript
- Experience working within cloud environments including AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, version control and CI/CD practices
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Exposure to technologies such as React, Node.js, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Celery, Infrastructure as Code or database optimisation is advantageous
About the company
We are offering a Mid-Level Python Software Engineer opportunity where you will help build the digital platforms supporting the UKs transition to Net Zero. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, with two days per week in our office.
