Job description

Responsible for leading the plan, design and development activities to create the user experience for devices, tools and systems. Responsible for establishing interactive conventions, assisting in gathering user requirements, mocking-up user experiences, participating in trade-off discussions with development teams and subject matter experts, analyzing tool sets, creating screen mock-ups and helping customers to imagine new kinds of interactive techniques and technologies. Applies visualization and screen design expertise to create a successful user experience.

  • Support the UX Lead by conducting user research sessions (interviews, usability tests, contextual inquiries) to collect raw behavioral and attitudinal data.
  • Execute discussion guides, screeners, and research protocols as defined by the UX Lead.
  • Observe and document user behaviors, pain points, and patterns during sessions, distinguishing what users say from what they actually do or need.
  • Administer quantitative data collection methods (surveys, card sorting, tree testing) in support of research plans set by the UX Lead.
  • Compile and organize raw research data (notes, session artifacts) into clean, structured formats for UX lead to synthesize.

Requirements

  • Ten years'experience in User Experience Design.

  • Five years'experience within the last 10 years experience leading project life cycledesign.

  • Bachelors degreein Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college oruniversity is required. Four (4) years of additional User Experience Designexperience on projects with similar design may be substituted for a bachelorsdegree.

  • Experience withInformation Technology: Three (3) years experience with screen mock-up tools(e.g. Powerpoint, Visio, Axure) and related industry tools used to createvisual displays and prototypes

  • Hands-on experienceconducting usability testing, interviews, and/pr contextual inquiry directlywith end users.

  • Comfortableassisting research sessions alongside a UX lead. Experience independentlyrunning research studies end-to-end (objective-setting, study design,execution, and synthesis) is a plus.

  • Working knowledgeof both qualitative discovery methods (usability testing, contextual inquiry)and quantitative data collection methods (surveys, analytics review, A/Btesting, card sorting, tree testing, session observation). Demonstratedexperience is a plus.

  • Strong note-takingand data organization skills where they are able to capture and structure rawfindings accurately for leadership synthesis and analysis.

  • Reliable,detail-oriented execution of research protocols with minimal need forindependent research strategy or stakeholder presentation.

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required
