The Surface Radars and Sensors (SR&S) Center within Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is looking for a Senior Principal Radar Systems Engineer to lead architecture and requirements development activities. This position will be onsite in Huntsville, AL.
What You Will Do
- Lead architecture and requirements development activities to define, characterize, develop, and document Missile Defense System (MDS) radar Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capabilities.
- Develop architectural framework updates, system-of-systems functional and performance requirements, detailed algorithm descriptions, test scenario definitions, and verification approaches.
- Conduct requirements analysis and benchmarking to validate algorithm designs, ensuring system-level performance aligns with operational requirements.
Requirements
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, * Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with radar systems or related systems engineering.
- Experience with radar signal processing, signal processing theory, and/or signal modeling., * Advanced degree in a STEM discipline.
- Experience with radar system concepts, including detection, discrimination, tracking, and signal processing algorithms.
- Expertise in system-level requirements development, documentation, and maintenance.
- Experience designing system-level software architecture.
- Proficiency in developing and coding system models, algorithms, test vectors, and evaluation tools for radar requirements and performance analysis.
- Experience developing, documenting, and maintaining processes, methods, and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab (including object-oriented programming), Python, C/C++, Java, and tools such as DOORS.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with customers and leading technical solutions for complex user requirements.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a geographically distributed team.
- Proven experience collaborating across disciplines and communicating effectively with all organizational levels and stakeholders.
Benefits & conditions
The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
