Job description

Sunbelt Modular is seeking a motivated, customer-focused IT Support & Deployment Technician to join our IT Operations team. This role combines hands-on hardware deployment with employee technology lifecycle coordination to ensure employees receive the right technology, at the right time, throughout their employment with Sunbelt.

The successful candidate will build, configure, deploy, and maintain company hardware while coordinating technology activities associated with new hires, employee transfers, office moves, equipment refreshes, and employee separations. The role will also help refine and improve Sunbelt's technology deployment and employee onboarding processes while providing front-line technical assistance when needed.

The position is based at Sunbelt Headquarters with limited local travel and coordination of equipment deployments to Sunbelt locations throughout the United States., Hardware Deployment & Asset Management

  • Build, configure, image, test, and deploy desktops, laptops, and high-performance drafting workstations.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues on desktops, laptops, peripherals, and related equipment.
  • Perform hardware upgrades including memory, storage, and component replacement.
  • Prepare systems for deployment through imaging, quality assurance testing, asset tagging, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate hardware inventory and asset tracking records.
  • Coordinate equipment preparation, packaging, and shipment to Sunbelt facilities across the United States.
  • Support proactive hardware refresh and replacement initiatives.

Employee Technology Lifecycle

  • Coordinate technology setup and deployment for new employees, ensuring equipment, accounts, and technology resources are prepared prior to start dates.
  • Assist new employees with workstation setup, equipment orientation, and initial technology onboarding.
  • Coordinate employee technology requests associated with transfers, office relocations, promotions, and equipment changes.
  • Process hardware replacement requests, equipment upgrades, and workstation moves.
  • Coordinate equipment recovery, redeployment, and inventory updates for employee separations.
  • Partner with Human Resources, hiring managers, and IT leadership to ensure employee technology requests are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Help create a positive onboarding experience by ensuring employees receive timely, professional technology support during their first days with the company.

Process Improvement

  • Partner with IT Operations leadership to continuously improve Sunbelt's hardware deployment and employee technology lifecycle processes.
  • Help develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures supporting hardware deployment, employee onboarding, equipment changes, and asset management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and the overall employee technology experience.
  • Maintain accurate documentation supporting deployment activities and operational processes.

IT Support

  • Provide Tier 1 support for hardware, peripherals, printers, and common Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 issues.
  • Troubleshoot workstation and hardware-related problems while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Resolve assigned support requests or coordinate escalation to senior IT staff or the Managed Service Provider when appropriate.
  • Participate in IT projects and operational initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in hardware deployment, desktop support, IT support, or a similar technical role.
  • Experience building, configuring, imaging, and troubleshooting Windows desktop and laptop hardware.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple technology deployments and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Limited local travel to nearby company facilities may be required as business needs dictate.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting employee onboarding, technology deployments, or user account lifecycle activities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience using IT ticketing systems and asset management platforms.
  • Experience coordinating hardware deployments across multiple locations.
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or similar technical certifications.
